Unboxing the Elphapex DG2

So, let’s get right into it! The box is here, fragile sticker on the side—always a good sign. You never know with shipping, but Elphapex packs these things well.

First Impressions

  • The unit looks solid, nothing cheap.
  • No sticker up top with the model number, but the design’s pretty recognizable.
  • Key ports: Reset, IP Report, Ethernet, and a TF card slot for firmware.

Hardware Features & Build Quality

Let’s break down the hardware before plugging this monster in.

The Front

  • Two high RPM fans on the front for cooling—pretty standard, but sturdy.
  • P13 Power Connection: Super excited about this. P13 is quickly becoming the norm for these bigger miners, replacing older connections for more reliable power delivery.
  • Comes with P13 to C20 cable included, which is a nice touch. If you need one here a link

Estimated Power Draw

We’re talking over 3,900 watts estimated by the manufacturer. That’s some serious juice, so you HAVE to make sure your electrical setup can handle these numbers.

“Especially with the amount of power that this is estimated to put out—somewhere over 3,900 watts. But we’re going to put that to the test today.” – The Hobbyist Miner

The Power Supply

  • Model: Elphapex FP105
  • Accepts 220V to 277V
  • Replacement parts and servicing should be straightforward, as this model is pretty available.

The Back

Nothing shocking here—looks almost identical to earlier DG1 and DG1+ models.

Official Hashrate & Power Specs

Before plugging the DG2 in, let’s take a look at what Elphapex is advertising for their specs.

Manufacturer Specs

ModelHashratePower at the Wall
DG218 GH/s ±3%3,960 W ±10%
DG2 PLUS20.5 GH/sJust Tested! Check this Out!

So, for today, we’re focused on the DG2: 18 GH/s and ~3,960 Watts.

Comparing Data

The DG2 is listed on some sites at 16 GH/s, which is confusing, because the actual machine and Elphapex say 18 GH/s. Double-check specs, especially if buying!

Profitability Calculations

Let’s run some quick numbers using “What To Mine,” using advertised specs.

Estimating Revenue and Cost

Advertised Settings:

  • Hashrate: 18 GH/s
  • Watts: 3,960 W
  • My electric rate: $0.072 per kWh

Plug those in and hit CALCULATE on WhatToMine.com

Results:

  • Estimated revenue: $22.10/day as of September 7th 2025
  • Electricity cost: $6.84/day as of September 7th 2025
  • Profit: $15.26/day as of September 7th 2025

But here’s the thing:

This wattage can seriously eat into profits, especially if your electricity’s above 7 cents per kWh.

Real-World Power & Hashrate Testing

All right, enough theory—let’s get this plugged in and see some real numbers.

Setup

  • Power: 30 amp, 240V circuit (actual: 241–242V at the wall).
  • Separate watt meter — Elphapex miners are known for spikes in power usage during startup, so be careful.

Guess the Watt Spike!

Elphapex units tend to spike up in watts right as they ramp up to target hash rates—so I guessed it’d hit about 4,400 watts at peak.

“Any guesses on how high this will go? The reason they do that is to get you up and hashing faster at full hash rate… I’m gonna take a guess that we’re going to spike up to 4,400 watts.” – The Hobbyist Miner

Watch this Video to see the Testing in “Real Time” The NEW Elphapex DG2 18+ Gh/s DOGECOIN Miner!

Actual Numbers: First 3 Minutes

  • Initial Wattage: 4,300W
  • Hashrate: 18.6 GH/s (just a bit above spec!)
  • Ambient Temp: 72°F (~22°C)

Settling Down

After about 15 minutes:

  • Wattage stabilized: 4,050–4,055W
  • Hashrate steady: 19.4 GH/s (higher than the advertised 18 GH/s!)

“I saw over 20 gigahash during this 15 minute period. We’ve settled in at about 19.4.” – The Hobbyist Miner

Takeaway

  • The spike is real, but it settles after a few minutes.
  • True numbers are better for hash, but higher for power than advertised.

What Matters: True Efficiency

Let’s crunch again:

Hashrate (GH/s)Power (W)Efficiency (GH/sW)Revenue ($/day)Elec. Cost ($/day)Profit ($/day)
19.44,0550.004823.767.0315.72

Power is up, but profit is also a tad better thanks to higher hash—unless rates go up.

Mining Pool Setup & Results

I’m running the DG2 on PowerPool. WHY?

  • 1% pool fee
  • Zero conversion fee
  • Zero withdrawal fee

“I’ve been using PowerPool for all my Bitcoin and Script miners recently. It’s been absolutely amazing. Great profitability.” – The Hobbyist Miner

So what’s the pool seeing for hash rate?

  • DG2 reported at 19.6 GH/s on PowerPool — matches our wall readings!
  • Sometimes pools report lower numbers, but in this case, it was spot on.

Where to Pre-Order the DG2

Ready to buy? Here’s the lowdown:

  • Elphapex Direct: $7,560 (pre-order) as of September 7th 2025
    • Ships around November 2025 per my discussion with Payne from Elphapex in this Interview

Caution:

“This is a pre-order, so there might not be a guarantee that this ships during that November time period. Their website actually says December. So keep that in mind when you’re looking ahead.” – The Hobbyist Miner

Trusted Resellers: Price & Shipping

Let’s compare the resellers and what their prices as of September 7th 2025.

“If you’re in the US or Europe, customs fees can add up. Sometimes “cheaper” resellers leave out DDP (delivered duty paid). Sometimes paying $400 more upfront saves a whopping 30% later. ” – The Hobbyist Miner
